Latest Halaqa Notes

March 1, 2010

Assalamoalaykom, Bismi Allah Al-Rahman Al Raheem

Here are some brief notes from the Saturday Halaqa on February 27.

Hadith About 2 traits of  a person with iman. A person with iman should leave lying even if we are joking and give up arguing even if we are right.

We can still joke but must not lie. There were incidents in the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) life where he joked. There were three examples mentioned.  One was about when an old woman came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and asked if he can make du’a that she may enter junna. He (peace be upon him) said no old women will enter junna. She got depressed and began to cry, then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said you will be young when you enter junnah.

As for the second part of the hadith, “and don’t argue even if you are right.”:  You should tell your opinion of the matter that is to discuss and if the person doesn’t agree, then don’t argue with them. We shouldn’t argue about matters in the world or in our deen. If we argue about matters in our deen it will extinguish the nur of Ilm. If anyone wants to listen to the lecture that is posted up as well. Assalamoalaykom
